Ethiopia is situated in North Eastern Africa bordering Sudan to the north and north-west, Eritrea to the north and north east, Djibouti to the east, Somalia to the east and south east and to the south lies Kenya. It was once known as Abyssinia and is now a non-coastal country
With population of around 74 million, Ethiopia is the third highest people concentration in Africa, next to Nigeria and Egypt. It has distinct culture, historical and linguistic identity. There are 80 languages of the country. Although all ethnic groups have been intermarried over the years expect for very few, they all conserved their own unique civilization.
The two main religions are Christian and Islam. Christianity came to Ethiopia in ancient times and became the official Ethiopian religion in the 4th century. The Orthodox Church has many connections with ancient Judaism.
